The softness and sensual crescent shape help frame TSUKI, the new hair salon shop

Located on the 3rd floor of the low-ceiling shophouse in the commercial district of Bangkok, the salon was created as an extension of the already established spa, YUMOTO. The name TSUKI (TUSKI - moon) has been chosen to mirror the identity of the spa. Imagined as the moon reflected on the hot spring surface (YUMOTO – the source of the hot spring)

To mitigate the narrow corner and small footprint, the brief for this project was to design a minimalistic space where the customer would feel the most visually comfortable. Round corners, tactile texture, and a warm beige color scheme, all drawn from the moon's characteristics have been chosen to convey the concept.

The interior is also set to express sensuality. The monochromatic material harmoniously imbues the spaces with soothing and a sense of relaxation. The crescent façade design that echoes the concept was purposely placed to draw the customer in and help convey the brand’s intangible qualities. In the day of the social media age, this distinguished shape will additionally lend itself to improved brand recognition.

Light plays an essential part in the project. The soft, backlights accent the interior’s tactile surface, creating a soothing environment. To further present the moon's characteristics in design, the signage lighting takes cues from the moon phase and creates a duality where the dimmed light could be presented from waning to full moon.
